Jackman is a Japanese apparel brand inspired by the shared baseball heritage of America and Japan, creating heavyweight, comfortable sportswear that evokes the feel of a 1930s athletic field. Using soft yet durable fabrics, Jackman produces insulating sweats, tees, and functional garments designed for everyday wear.
Rooted in Japanese baseball culture, the brand traces its origins back to 1949, when Mitsugu Tanabe founded the Tanabe Meriyasu factory in Fukui, Japan. Inspired by American post-war baseball stockings, he pioneered high-quality production techniques and even developed specialised machines to refine craftsmanship, later supplying training wear for the 1964 Japanese Olympic team.
Today, Jackman continues this legacy of Japanese-made excellence, with each piece still produced in the original factory using vintage machinery. Deeply connected to Japanese baseball heritage, Jackman remains committed to slow, thoughtful manufacturing and enduring quality.
